In the name of God, Amen,
I Lucy GILLIAM of the parish of Albemarle, County of Sussex being sick and weak but of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following (to wit)

Item: My will is that my Man Joel shall advance or cause to be advanced by hire the sum of fifty pounds after that I do manumit or Free the said Joel.

Item: My will is that my woman Dinah shall be hired so long and save the sum of Ten pounds after that I do manumit or Free the said Dinah.

Item: My will is that my woman Edy should be hired out Three years after then she the said Edy shall be free and as the said Edy is pregnant my will is that the child she may bring shall be free.

Item: Whereas my man Jack is under encumbrance so my sister Edna claims one-third part of the said Jack my wish is that the said Negro be hired out so long as to pay my sister one third part of his value and after then the said Jack shall be free and all the remainder of my Estate I leave to be sold.

Item: I give to my cousin John GILLIAM, son of John GILLIAM the sum of twenty pounds to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give to William Woodard the sum of fifteen pounds.

Item: I give all the remainder of my estate to be divided between my Sister Marys and Sister Peggy's children to them and their heirs forever and that my friend James McClenny receive the money and let them have it as they come of age or marry and
Lastly I do nominate and appoint James McClenny whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal 21st day of August 1801.

At a Court held for Sussex County the fifth Nov. 1801

The said will and testament of Lucy GILLIAM deceased was presented in Court by James McClenny the Executor therein named the same was proved by the oaths of Elizabeth GILLIAM and Buckner Lanier two of the witnesses thereto I ordered to be recorded and on motion of said Executor who made oath thereto I gave Bond Security agreeable to Law Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in Due Manner_______
